USList.info is a business directory made of pre-built pages. You do not need an account, and we do not ask you to sign in, so we hold no customer records, no profiles, and no mailing list. The only information you ever hand us directly is what you type into our contact form.
The homepage and state pages let you jump to the closest city with listings by sharing your location or typing a ZIP code. Category pages let you sort businesses by distance the same way. If you choose “Use my location,” your browser asks your permission and then supplies your approximate coordinates to the page. If you type a ZIP code, that ZIP is matched against a list of ZIP code centers that ships with the site. In both cases the calculation happens inside your own browser. Your location and ZIP code are never transmitted to us or to anyone else, and nothing about them is stored after you leave the page.
The directory itself does not set tracking cookies. The only site-owned preference we store is your light/dark theme choice, which is saved in your browser’s localStorage under the key uslist-theme. It is used only to apply the same theme on your next visit and is never transmitted to us or to any third party.
Third parties we rely on may set cookies or read device identifiers when their content loads on a page — for example Google Analytics, an advertising partner, or an anti-spam check on the contact form. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the directory will keep working.
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors move through the site and which pages are most useful. Google may collect information such as your IP address, browser type, device characteristics, the pages you view, and how you reached the site. This data is processed by Google under its own privacy policy.
You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by blocking analytics scripts and cookies in your browser.
We may display advertising on this site, including advertising served by Google AdSense and other third-party advertising networks. Even though ad units are not shown while we are awaiting approval, this policy describes how advertising will work once it is enabled.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on a visitor’s prior visits to this or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this and other sites on the Internet.
You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info. Advertising partners act as independent parties under their own privacy policies, which we do not control.
Listing details come from OpenStreetMap, an openly licensed map of the world. They describe businesses and public places, not private individuals, and we publish them as provided. If a listing includes something that should not be public, or is simply wrong, the record is corrected or removed directly on OpenStreetMap, and our pages pick up the change the next time we refresh the directory.
This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to request a copy, or to ask us to delete it. Because we keep so little, this usually amounts to deleting an email you sent us. Send any request through our contact form and we will respond.
We may update this policy as the site changes; the date at the top shows the current version. Questions about privacy can be sent through our contact page.
